Brand new design for igihe.com, comming soon!

Hey there,

It has been a while now that the technical team at igihe.com and our partners have been working on setting up an international standard designed website! The design is almost completed and we are planing to launching it soon enough.

The problem

The current igihe.com interface does not fit international standards. When designing the current version of the site. We just focused on creating an interface that would be accessible to the Rwandese people, who we must say back then (A year ago) did not really have specific expectations about what a good website should look like. That time is long gone now, we need to increase the quality and ergonomics of the interface to bring the most pleasant web experience to both first time visitors and unique existing visitors.

The current design had problem regarding:

  1. International standards
  2. Ergonomics
  3. Navigability
  4. accessibility
  5. Cross browsers compatibility

One more problem with the current version of the site, is it's lack of automation. Basically almost any part of the site needs to be insterted from it's source code. Which makes updating the different components of the site, very hard for the technical team (Which are me and a friend of mine :) ).

The solution

The new interface should dramatically increase user experience both for the visitors and for the managers of the site. We have also been thinking about changing the software that manages the content on the site, moving from the "IGIHE CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM" to the well now french CMS (SPIP) but for now we are still develloping the plugin to will make that migration possible without loss of data . This is of little consequence, to the visitors of the site cause the only change they will notice is the change to the different interfaces of the site.

So, all we need now is to finilize the latest test with the interface, especially for Cross Browser Compatibility, to make sure that the site looks exactelly the same on all the major browsers (Mozilla,Chrome,IE,Opera). In about a week from now the new design for www.igihe.com should be in place and of course we will need to know what your response will be.

Opening the Igihe ltd blog

Hello!

Welcome to the official blog of igihe ltd, the company that publishes the website www.igihe.com but also its soon to come english version. Why this blog?

Our goal is to explain our overall strategy to the visitors of www.igihe.com,which will probably be the first readers of this blog, taking into account the fact that many of them are not yet fully familiar with The world of information technology business.

We found that many visitors www.igihe.com did not understand certain things related to the Igihe ltd company that seemed obvious to us. Even elementary. And we can not blame them: we either we are not born with the innate knowledge, we are not accountants,we do not know all the things that run the world in which we live. We have made mistakes, we make and we will certainly be others. It's healthy. That's how you learn. And it's even better if that experience is shared, hence the reason for this blog.
